End Credits Show Notes for Thursday February 8, 2018

Just in time for the coming games in South Korea, we flashback to the events leading up to the Winter Olympics nearly 25 years ago on this week’s End Credits. We go for a skate with the new bio-pic about Tonya Harding, and we take a spin on some news items from the past week. Film critics are top of mind with one getting into Twitter trouble, and other taking a critical look at one of the most controversial subjects of the current #MeToo movement. Plus, while we’re talking about black superhero movies, why aren’t we talking more about that kickboxing vampire movie? Continue reading “End Credits Show Notes for Thursday February 8, 2018”

End Credits Show Notes for Thursday February 1, 2018

Things are pretty golden on this week’s End Credits. We’ve got a lot of awards stuff to talk about with the release of the Academy Award nominations (and the Razzies), and a review of the darling of this year’s Oscars, The Shape of Water. Between those two items, we’ll also talk about the remake of RoboCop that might be, and the remake of Crocodile Dundee that will never be. Sort of. End Credits Show Notes for Thursday January 25, 2018

This week on End Credits, we want to know what love is, but we have to deal with a lot of politics in order to get there. First, there’s the changing model of the movie theatre business, then there’s the apparent disinterest in protecting copyrights, and we wrap up with the mother of all political stories, the present White House and the reality TV star that runs it. Your treat at the end though it a review of a beautiful new movie that makes you believe that romance and love are still real things. End Credits Show Notes for Thursday January 18, 2018

This week on End Credits, things get real. Unlike last week’s jaunt into the realm of magic policing and getting small to save the world, we’ve got real life problems to talk about. Specifically, we have to get back to the latest, constantly shifting news about the social movement of our times as new allegations are revealed, and the blowback has begun in earnest. And then, we’ll tie that in with this week’s movie, which is about events almost 50 years ago, but still feel oddly timely. Continue reading “End Credits Show Notes for Thursday January 18, 2018”

End Credits Show Notes for Thursday January 11, 2018

It’s back to business as unusual on End Credits this week! As we took a couple of weeks off thanks to the magic of recording episodes in advanced, the movies still kept on coming, so we cleared the slate of movie news for this week in order to bring you two back-to-back reviews. One is an unusual tale about two cops, and the other is the unusual tale about a guy trying to go big by getting smaller. Continue reading “End Credits Show Notes for Thursday January 11, 2018”

End Credits Show Notes for Thursday January 4, 2018

This first episode of End Credits for 2018 is going to look back at 2017. While it’s true we’ve already awarded the Top 5 of 2017, there are some other accolades we’d like to consider for before moving on to the new year and new movies. Yes, it’s time for the first annual End Credits Awards, which will feature winners in a quartet of unconventional categories. Continue reading “End Credits Show Notes for Thursday January 4, 2018”

End Credits Show Notes for Thursday December 28, 2017

This week, with this being the last episode of End Credits of the Year 2017 and all, we do what all famous movie critics do at this time: make a list. The topic we’ve chosen, naturally, is the best films of 2017, and it was another great year of cinema if you know what to look for. So this week, we’ve got four lists, and while there’s some overlap, but more than enough proof that in spite of everything, it was still a fun and interesting year at the movies. Continue reading “End Credits Show Notes for Thursday December 28, 2017”

End Credits Show Notes for Thursday December 21, 2017

This week on End Credits, it’s the best time of the year: Star Wars time! On this episode we’re going to review the brand new epic space opus Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and try to squeeze in some further Star Wars talk about how the new era under the mouse house has been going. Speaking of which, we’ll discuss the downside of the studio merger everyone’s excited about, and we’ll talk about why the Golden Globes, as always, suck at picking the best movies. Continue reading “End Credits Show Notes for Thursday December 21, 2017”

End Credits Show Notes for Thursday December 14, 2017

This week’s episode of End Credits will be tearing it up, not tearing it apart. You may be thinking that there’s not much of a difference between those two things, but fans of The Room know one is very, very bad. On this episode of the show, we will review the movie based on the making of The Room, James Franco’s The Disaster Artist, and we’ll talk about some of the latest items from the world of movie news including real-life drama for a director, a trip to space for another, and 75 years of what is maybe the greatest film ever made. Continue reading “End Credits Show Notes for Thursday December 14, 2017”

End Credits Show Notes for Thursday December 7, 2017

It seems like all Hollywood is about these days is franchises, and it seems like this week’s End Credits is going to prove it. Well, we’ll prove it and then we’ll disprove it. In the first half of the show, we’ll talk about a cinematic universe that never came to be, an indie film festival everyone in Hollywood attends, and the latest chapter in one of the most successful film series of all time. To counter that, we’ll review a wonderful new film that is not based on any previously existing property, but is funny and touching and surprising all at the same time.
